We've used them several times in the snow this season and had a great time. My complaint is regarding the buckles/straps keep falling off when they are unbuckled. We x-country ski a lot, and he has seen us ski, so as soon as he saw his own pair he thought they were the coolest thing ever... so we had a bit of a jump start there. They are very easy to get on and off. If you strap them down tight, they stay on very well, even through small tumbles. Having the poles are great - I wasn't sure at first for a 2 yr old, but now I am very glad we have them. The poles help our son march around on his skis. They are just the right length for the little ones. I would highly recommend these to anyone who wants to get their very young one acquainted with skis. I have tried having our 2y/o scoot around on the carpet to get the feeling of what having boards strapped to your feet is like and it does seem to help. Rent real skis with edges and enroll them in lessons if you're serious about teaching them to ski. (It's like the joke - Q: What's the fastest and most effective way to break up with a girl(boy)friend? A: Teach them to ski.)
